MAD’s “Huangshan Mountain Village” is the winner of the Housing Category in ArchDaily’s “Building of the Year” Awards 2018. The peer-based, crowd-sourced architecture award is a showcase of projects that have been selected by ArchDaily readers. This year saw more than 100,000 votes cast across 15 categories, showcasing a wide spectrum of different types of building, offering insight into how diverse the profession has become in recent decades.

Instinctively growing out of the mountainous landscape, the serene design sensibility of "Huangshan Mountain Village" is reflected in its natural setting. It offers a new type of vertical living that while architecturally complimenting the surrounding  forest and beautiful mountain range, also enhances the levels of comfort and well-being of its inhabitants, establishing a synergy between humans, nature, and the local culture.
